This 11” x 14” painting of an american oyster catcher is a gouache & watercolor on panel framed in a white floater frame. It comes with wire on the back for easy hanging.
This painting was formally titled “J.J. American Oyster Catcher” but I did not feel that that captured all that I felt about it. We spotted this beauty near St. Simon’s Island, Georgia and after talking with the local birding folk we were told he/she is in fact a local of the area ( based on the leg bands). There is a certain kind of satisfaction to know birds are coming back year after year to Georgia’s coast. For me, I liked the idea that this is not just some bird, but an individual that has a record of being here and expected to return.
